What are the top tips on selecting the right fabric/material for my blinds?
- An option is to match the colour of the blind with the wall colours (this works if you have more decorative furniture and want the walls & blinds to be neutral)
- Another option is to make the blinds a featured texture or colour to compliment the other colours within the room. Hues of creams or silvers and whites work well as blind colours.
- Printed designer blinds are now used as a feature in a bathroom or kitchen. They are often added for that Pop of colour and can be different to the rest of the house.
- Consider the use of the room. Do you want total privacy or block out for sleeping? Do you still want the room to be light or enjoy a view? Do you have the window open or closed most of the time? There are blinds to suit all these variations.
- Consider the direction of the Sun hitting the window. Is the window facing hot afternoon western sun? Or morning sun? Does the weather effect the room and make the room uncomfortable?
- Some blinds & shutters vary in price and quality. For example Holland (Roller) blinds have price categories from 1-9. You can get a block out fabric in any category, but it will depend on the fabric and quality.
